PDQ began as a desktop application for printers to use as an estimating tool. Because it was being used by printers themselves, our calculation algorithm ‘learned’ how to accommodate the peculiarities of printing production processes and, in doing so, quickly became an indispensable solution to our customers – and unique in the industry itself. Inevitably, PDQ stopped being a tool just for printers. As PDQ evolved it moved from the desktop to online and became accessible to a much wider audience. Our software was now offered ‘as a service’ – SaaS – and became PDQ Print Hub. PDQ Print Hub became a tool for the entire industry. For the first time, it was possible for buyers of print to obtain instant prices from the national printing supply chain and compare suppliers quickly and effectively. In January 2021, Haybrooke’s reinvention of the printing industry stepped up pace when we launched ‘printing as a service’ – PaaS – powered by PDQ. We deployed the first ever portal in the UK that provided print buyers with transparent access to a nationwide roster of Haybrooke’s printing partners, and we effectively became a wholesaler of printed products. In this moment, we redefined forever how businesses could approach sustainable print procurement. In 2022, one year after the launch of PaaS, we won the ‘Innovation in Business Improvements’ award celebrating our operational efficiency and sustainability. Our commitment to innovation has been consistently recognised throughout the industry. In 2024, we scooped the BOSS E-business of the Year Award, highlighting our role as a pioneer in digital solutions for the print and office supply sectors. And in February 2025 we were awarded The Stationers’ Company Warrant. Beyond these achievements, Haybrooke has been regularly shortlisted for prestigious awards, including the British Business Awards, the BOSS Industry Awards, and the SME National Business Awards, across categories such as High Growth Business, Sustainability, and Service Provider of the Year.
